Sprayer manufacturer Chafer has launched a new Chafer Interceptor powered by a fuel efficient, quiet 215 hp, 6 cylinder Deutz engine.
A Bosch Rexroth hydrostatic drive train transmits engine power to the ground and offers all the benefits of a CVT transmission, which Chafer claim gives precise, infinitely variable control of each wheel motor, resulting in excellent field and road behaviour.
The transmission features automatic dynamic traction force distribution which compensates for changes in terrain automatically adjusting each wheel motors displacement to give maximum traction and ensure hill climbing and descending are controlled at all times.
The Bosch Rexroth High Level Braking system uses a combination of hydrostatic deceleration and independent mechanical braking operated by a foot pedal to significantly reduce stopping distances while preventing over revving of the engine.
The spacious cab offers excellent operator comfort and all round visibility, with clear and unobstructed views of the spray booms through the full wide rear windscreen. All controls including a multifunction joystick are logically laid out in the operator console, the position of which can be adjusted to suit the operator. Along with full climate control and multi stage air filtration the cab offers a large buddy seat complete with a refrigerated compartment.
The chassis is fitted with a Chafer spray pack which incorporates many of the features already fitted to the Chafer Guardian and Sentry trailed sprayer range. Manual plumbing systems or Chafer’s ePlumbing automatic liquid control system can be specified, with the latter offering automatic tank filling and cleaning cycles. Stainless steel tanks from 4000 to 5000 litres incorporate a deep sump for complete tank emptying, aggressive tank agitation and internal baffles for stability.
The Interceptor will be available with 24-30m F-Series booms and 30 – 36m G-Series booms. All booms can be specified with Chafer Contour automatic boom levelling which now offers “Sub Zero” inclination for hilly terrain. For liquid fertilizer users all booms can be specified with Duo React air controlled nozzles which can accommodate Chafer Streambars, or individual nozzle control using the Hypro Prostop-e system. The sprayer is fitted with a high capacity centrifugal pump for rapid tank filling.
